growing up in london
this summer, i joined the ef summer camping club and i’ve chosen to come to this city, london, the most prosperous and attractive city here. the reason of coming here is not only to see the completely different landscape or to learn original english, but also to give myself more opportunities to experience and to get more abilities to live by myself. actually, we can call all these stuffs‘growing up’.
the life with the host family helped me to learn more useful abilities. the first problem that bothers me was that my roommates could hardly understand what our family were saying, and to my surprise, they never seemed to make an effort to attempt to do this. i told myself that i really needed to get rid of it, so i encouraged them to talk and it did work. they tried to do things on their own, to help themselves, to solve problems about communication.
although it didn’t mean that they didn’t rely on me anymore, the situation changed a whole lot better. through this difficulty, i learnt to express my feelings and to give people energy and confidence. i’m not very outgoing, therefore, sometimes expressing is a very tough thing for me, but after this, i realized that it’s pretty important, showing your emotions, for example, unsatisfaction, if the people who you want persuade do change, it really worth it; if not, there’s still value if you try---- you can really practice your expression abilities. they are very important in your daily life, in the whole society; it’ll even give you much help in your adulthood through improving the interpersonal relationship.
(in my family, making food ourselves gave us chances to get abilities and to take care of ourselves. otherwise, when we wanted so different kinds of food, we could talk to the hostess and she would offer the food we want without any hesitation although they are vegeterious which means there are lots of restrictions on diet. though the time that we spent with our host family, i feel that communication is really important in you daily life.)
(during the magnificent tours, i felt the definitely different atmosphere and morality standard in london. it gave me whole new experience and affection. the people in london are really polite and enthusiastic, therefore you might be influenced by them when you walked along the street, got on the packed tube or even bought stuffs in the groceries.)
on the other hand, we have a lot of activities with ef here, when we tried to find to place where we would meet, we learnt to get used to the transportation here, we got enough courage through asking for the directious and it’s significant for us. while traveling, i felt astounded all the time about the architecture and the atmosphere they all made me awed.
and row, with all the luggage packed up, i feel a little sentiment. i will miss my life here. my friends who are thoughtful, my coarse teachers who are also our psychologist, my team leaders who are also our friends and gave us love as parents. walk through the city again, i convince all the things that i’ve got during the past three weeks were really relevant and i am proud of myself, feel admired about all of us. i acknowledge all the difficulties and tough time we’ve been through and i appreciate them, anyway, it was the first excursion in my life.
